4D Presents teamed up with SOAS Students Union for the return of ‘The Halloween Bonanza’ on October 29th. Over 500 guests joined us for a night of live music, DJ’s and ghoulish fancy dress – spread over 2 rooms at the Islington Metalworks!
The event began with Jack Jewell in room 1, warming it up on the decks for the live music to follow. As his classic old-skool Hip-Hop selections progressed into more bass-heavy, rhythmic tunes, the dance floor filled and the vibe grew. A responsive crowd was ready for In Search Of to rock the show.. which they did classily! The band played with a dynamic that shows they’ve been together for some time, delivering a charismatic performance. Their set was closely followed by 7-man funk outfit Lunch Money, who increased the energy with their brand of funk-infused mayhem. Sweat was dripping at this point.
Meanwhile in room 2, DJ Jabs had the dance-floor going nuts with a seemingly endless string of certified floor fillers, travelling from Hip-Hop to Dancehall to R&B. For those that were there, we’re talking about the guy in the police officer outfit waving his baton at people from behind the decks! And creeping up on people, trying to scare them! Jabs had followed DJ Raymond’s energetic, yet intricate EDM set which already had the crowd dancing, pulling zombified moves. Unfortunately we don’t have a prize for the worst dance move, but there were some serious contenders! Props to everyone who went in.
Taking a breather in the middle room – which was sprinkled with little lights and haunting shapes dangling from above – Positive Vibes Crew were to be heard in the live room, performing a specially extended set. The double DJ/Vocalist combination moved fluidly through Reggae and Hip-Hop tunes, dropping some Dub classics along the way. Vibes were just right as the night progressed, people were getting papped by the in-house photographer and getting down on the dance floor. Face paint was getting smudged, which was more funny than scary.. All corners of the venue had people enjoying themselves.
A big thank you to everyone that made it down, you made the night what it was! We’ve published the pictures on our facebook page, where you can tag people up and add your own photos to the event album!
Huge shouts out to the Electrowerkz staff who decorated the place really nicely. The lighting and decor was fantastic, which created the perfect atmosphere..
