4D Presents & Free Film Festival
Join us on Friday 11th March for the Friday celebration of the SOAS Free Film Festival. To celebrate the city-wide week long film festival, we’ve collated some incredible live music and SOAS’ premium selection of DJs to congratulate all those involved.

The south east London five-piece collective bring their esoteric melodies, dreamy chord sequences and groovy percussive rhythms to the legendary SOAS JCR. Combining folk, soul, pop, rock, jazz and electro, this outfit deliver a strong female led sound, appropriately demonstrating the industry altering sounds coming from south east London recently.
ISLAND CASSETTES – islandcassettes.co.uk
Island Cassettes are a five piece indie/world beat band from the peaceful countryside of Kent. Taking influence from French ye-ye, folk and African guitar styles including high life and soukous. They create a blend of sparkling guitar riffs, exotic harmonies and infectious rhythms. Resulting in sun soaked gems that take you away to distant shores.

SOAS’ own, Ollie Maddrell will open up proceedings with his unique voice and subtle acoustic tones. With influence from the likes of Cohen, Dylan and more, the London based singer songwriter’s folk style draws a line between solemnity and prosperity with a darker edge.

Cultured Sounds‘ producer and DJ will fill the gaps between the bands with some fresh of the press world fusion and UK hip hop. Expect expert bars and beats dripping in gold.

Ex-BNOC Tony brings along his disc jockey veteran NV as they tie together Tony’s diverse collection of world beats and NV’s old school drum & bass collection. They’re here to make sure that the vibes are high, they might even save your life.
Jacob’s vinyl only policy allows for a one time only set. His unique collection consists of old school garage and some unique UK bass classics.
Phono comes once again with his delectable selection of tunes he likes. From Fela Kuti to Bonobo right the way through to Busy Twist and Justin Timberlake.
Mattia’s maiden set at SOAS will be sure to be a heater. His dark and old school garage vibes are sure to get you skanking down and dirty.
