In the JCR…

THIDIUS – thidius.bandcamp.com

The south east London five-piece collective bring their esoteric melodies, dreamy chord sequences and groovy percussive rhythms to the legendary SOAS JCR. Combining folk, soul, pop, rock, jazz and electro, this outfit deliver a strong female led sound, appropriately demonstrating the industry altering sounds coming from south east London recently.

ISLAND CASSETTES – islandcassettes.co.uk

Island Cassettes are a five piece indie/world beat band from the peaceful countryside of Kent. Taking influence from French ye-ye, folk and African guitar styles including high life and soukous. They create a blend of sparkling guitar riffs, exotic harmonies and infectious rhythms. Resulting in sun soaked gems that take you away to distant shores.

OLLIE – facebook.com/olliemaddrell

SOAS’ own, Ollie Maddrell will open up proceedings with his unique voice and subtle acoustic tones. With influence from the likes of Cohen, Dylan and more, the London based singer songwriter’s folk style draws a line between solemnity and prosperity with a darker edge.

OPUS DICE – culturedsounds.net

Cultured Sounds‘ producer and DJ will fill the gaps between the bands with some fresh of the press world fusion and UK hip hop. Expect expert bars and beats dripping in gold.
